Vietnam encourages sustainable consumption and production

In Vietnam, the trend toward environmentally friendly products and sustainable consumption is drawing more attention and influencing the country's manufacturing and distribution systems. Le Manh Phong, CEO of Go/BigC System in Hanoi and the northern region, noted that based on his practical experience, the trend toward sustainable consumption in the nation has grown more and more apparent in recent years. This is because a product with an environmentally friendly production or packaging process frequently gives the business more advantages over its competitors.

One of the largest grocery chains in Vietnam, BigC, which is Thai-owned, recently released a survey claiming that 31% of customers are willing to spend more for products that support environmental protection. As a pioneer in putting the circular economy model into practice, Vijay Kumar Pandey, Chairman of the TH Milk Food JSC (THMF), stated that in the production chain of the TH Group, waste and byproducts from one process are used as input materials for another, extending the material's life cycle and reducing gas emissions.
