Italian urban riding kit specialist Tucano Urbano have introduced jackets using recycled polyester taken from disused plastic bottles. Called the Good Wheels collection, they are the first products produced by the Milanese firm to use the technology, with other recycled materials also coming from industrial scrap fibres, post-consumer fabric yarns, old fishing nets and more. There’s also a pledge to use more sustainable water-repellent fabric finishes, with the range currently consisting of the Orbis, Monte and Stella jackets. The three new jackets will have made use of up to 30 old plastic bottles, with all three offering waterproofing with a water column of 10,000mm. All are CE A-rated (the lowest level of protection) with ventilation, winter linings, protection in the shoulders and elbows, plus options for back protectors. The £249.99, dark blue Monte comes in sizes S-3XL. It’s laminated and features a windproof cuff with thumb loops. There’s also a hood, passenger hand-warming pockets and a microfibre-lined chest pocket for glasses.
