The eco-route service from Tmap Mobility helps reduce emissions.

The news was made during a press conference to mark the achievement of 20 million Tmap users this month, 22 years since Nate Drive 1.0, the forerunner of the current mobile navigation system, was released. "The eco-route planning service will enable a business model of providing solutions to carmakers that want to offer benefits to their customers," said Lee Jae-hwan, Chief Strategy Officer at Tmap Mobility. We are also thinking about decreasing emissions using the service and then exchanging those credits on the international market.

The SK Telecom subsidiary anticipates that its new service will aid drivers in reducing their carbon emissions because it is based on data gathered from Tmap users and comprehensive maps with gradients. Tmap Mobility will provide a comparable service for owners of internal combustion engine cars (ICEVs) after the service gains traction among EV drivers.  According to Choi In-jun, manager of Tmap Mobility's map content team, "if ICEV drivers start using the service, we will be able to contribute more to reducing carbon emissions."
