Sunrun launches a program in California to replace old batteries in solar systems.

In California, Sunrun has introduced a new add-on storage option for its current solar clients.

Following the implementation of new net-metering regulations, a significant number of California customers who were not initially given the opportunity to install a battery have indicated a great interest in expanding their systems' storage capacity.

"More Sunrun customers will be able to harness their own clean solar energy and save money even after the sun sets," stated Mary Powell, CEO of Sunrun. Numerous solar-only customers have expressed their desire to expand their current systems' storage capacity. We're eager to give customers greater control over how they produce and use solar energy, as well as energy independence and outage protection.

Clients who decide to upgrade their system with a battery will be able to sign up for one of Sunrun's distributed power plant projects with their new retrofit storage device. At this time, Sunrun is limited to providing Tesla Powerwalls for retrofit applications.
