As heatwaves sweep the globe, the impending climate crisis becomes more apparent. In some regions, India has experienced severe heat waves in the past few years, with temperatures exceeding 45 °C (113 °F). In 2019, it experienced one of its hottest summers, with temperatures as high as 50 °C (122 °F). Heatwaves harm vulnerable populations, including older people, children, and those with preexisting health conditions. India has seen a rise in extreme weather events like floods, cyclones, and droughts in recent years. In 2018, Kerala suffered its worst floods in 100 years, leaving over 400 dead and over a million displaced. These events are likely to become more frequent and intense due to climate change.

Social entrepreneurs are incorporating climate justice into their business goals and developing practical solutions to climate disasters. We need an effective strategy for identifying scalable, sustainable, and innovative solutions to combat climate change. Social entrepreneurs can use their ingenuity and resourcefulness to launch ventures that adhere to best practices and work toward a net-zero world. Governments and the climate must support these efforts.

Social entrepreneurs can promote sustainability, circular economy, and climate innovation to create a fairer society and reduce the impact of climate change. We need to work together to support and encourage social entrepreneurs in their efforts to fight climate change and create a sustainable future for ourselves and future generations.
