Savings and Unexpected Costs Come with Living Off the Grid

Budgeting for off-grid necessities is one thing; it's more difficult to account for hidden expenses. After three years, the cost of the property itself has already been covered by the savings in rent and utility costs.  During COVID lockdowns, I mostly did the plumbing and electrical wiring for our off-grid system by myself. I did ask experienced installers, unlicensed handymen with installation experience, and many people on internet forums about what I was getting myself into and what I should budget for. 

They should "think" they're connected to the grid in order to keep all of your electrical appliances working properly. Installing high-quality batteries, inverters, charge controllers, breakers, and cable that can deliver a constant, secure source of energy at a constant voltage is necessary to do this. Numerous off-grid tales describe, among other things, cheap inverters frying gadgets.
