Roam Park, East Africa's largest electric motorcycle assembly plant, is officially opened by Kenyan President William Ruto.

A number of businesses are putting out a lot of effort to make sure that the African continent is not left behind as the switch to electric transportation picks up speed around the globe. The market for electric motorcycles has been one of the continent's main areas of attention.  Since there are already millions of motorcycles with internal combustion engines on the road throughout the continent and some favorable unit economics for switching to electric motorcycles have been demonstrated through several pilot projects throughout the continent, the focus is now on expanding these electrification initiatives. For this transformation to fully pay off, local assembly and production of these electric motorcycles will be essential.

The largest electric motorbike assembly plant in East Africa, Roam's 10,000 square meter facility overlooks the Nairobi National Park and will soon attain its annual manufacturing capacity of 50,000 motorcycles. By utilizing electric motorcycles, which provide a sustainable transportation alternative for motorcycle taxis utilized in the boda boda and other logistics sectors, the facility realizes the shared ambition to modernize urban mobility. The President said, "I am happy to inaugurate Roam's electric motorbike assembly plant today. I am confident in the facility's ability to support innovation and economic resilience.
