According to a new report from the International Energy Agency, the growth rate in the world's renewable energy capacity jumped 45% in 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic. However, experts warn that a "substantial gap" persists between emissions from continued fossil fuel use and the lower levels needed to meet temperature limits in the Paris Agreement on climate change by the end of the decade.
