Overnight horror? Following past "fudges," the UK Recycling Association praises Kellogg's new Pringles tube.

July 19, 2023 --- The UK Recycling Association has hailed Kellogg's Pringles' decision to introduce a recyclable paper-based potato chip tube in Europe as a successful case study for companies finding it difficult to move away from packaging that is difficult to recycle.

With the help of Belgian waste management partner Fost Plus, Kellogg's has replaced the steel base of the tube with paper after five years of development. This allows the packaging to be recycled using the current paper and cardboard steams. It is also said that PMD bags can be used to recycle the plastic cover of the cap.

The packaging for Pringles was previously dubbed a "recycler's nightmare" by the UK Recycling Association. The previous tube featured an intricate design consisting of a cardboard sleeve lined with foil, a plastic cap, a metal base, and a metal tear-off.
