NCCL's Greenfest highlights environmental sustainability

From solar power to electric cars and insects to soil, attendees of Newark Center for Creative Learning’s Kids’ Greenfest got a chance to learn about all sorts of environmental and sustainability topics on Saturday. The festival, which began in 2010, is the school biggest event each year. “While many green expos are focused on products and are geared towards adults, our goal is to empower children through educational activities that help them see practical changes they can make with their families,” Administrative Director Lauren Evans said. “Sustainability is a journey for each of us,” Evans said. This year's Greenfest was the biggest yet, as NCCL took full advantage of an adjacent property it acquired in 2020. In addition to the usual offerings of educational displays, music and food, approximately a dozen local vendors took part in the inaugural Sustainability Market.
