Mihika Agarwal, Denimblu: Entrepreneurs innovating to create an eco-friendly world
Author: Tenzin Norzom
Mihika Agarwal was surprised to learn the negative impact of fashion and textile impact on the environment. About 13 million tonnes of textiles, which makes up 85 percent of textiles produced, ends up in landfills each year. This led her to start Denimblu, a startup that aims to reduce textile waste by reusing denim produced in factories to make fashionable products such as bags, holders, and aprons. With the guidance of her mentors at Young Entrepreneurship Academy, Mihika tied up with a vocational training centre for the disabled in Mumbai so the residents can earn from handcrafting the bags out of waste denim.
