Marin launches a tri-county effort to reduce coastal pollution

The "Cleaner California Coast" effort, a three-year campaign, aims to extend the "leave-no-trace" theme frequently utilized in state and national parks to all coastal areas of Marin, Sonoma, and Mendocino counties.

The goal of the campaign, according to its proponents, is to get people to pack away any rubbish they produce or to prevent waste by utilizing reusable or compostable products, whether they are vacationing at a rental home in Stinson Beach or going on a hike in a national park. Supervisor Dennis Rodoni of West Marin, who helped organize the collaboration, said he is routinely questioned about the lack of additional trash cans. According to him, lack of capacity and frequency of service in rural regions has resulted in overflowing trash bins, littering, and individuals utilizing the wide outdoors as a bathroom.
