One of the biggest producers of cement in Africa, Lafarge Africa Plc, has reduced its carbon impact by purchasing new electric vehicles. With the help of Tolaram, it was able to increase the number of trucks in its supply and distribution fleet. The company's "Accelerating Green Mobility" strategy, which includes implementing cutting-edge technologies to improve customer experience, efficiency, and drastically lower carbon footprints across its supply chain, is what led to the acquisition of the new vehicles.
The company's GMD/CEO, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, stated at the trucks' recent launch that "the introduction of the Electric Vehicles (EV) marks a significant shift towards a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable supply chain; this strategic move benefits not only the environment but also holds immense promise for all stakeholders."
The GMD stated that their vision to incorporate environmentally friendly practices into every facet of their operations started years ago and that this journey had led them to a number of significant milestones that had completely changed the supply chain landscape." In the near future, we want to increase the number of electric vehicles in our fleet while also looking at additional environmentally friendly transportation options. He stated, "This demonstrates our unwavering commitment to taking on a leadership role within our industry and encouraging the growth of a competitive and sustainable supply chain."
