Kathmandu, the federal capital of Nepal, has witnessed the world’s most polluted air. Kathmandu stood ninth on the World's most polluted cities' index, according to a European body that measures the air quality across the globe. According to the hourly air quality data collected from 17 pollution monitoring stations installed at various parts of the Kathmandu Valley, the air quality index (AQI) repod deterioration early from the midnight, measuring higher than that of 135 μg/m³.
