The average American household wasted almost one-third of the food they bought in 2020, according to research published in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics. That comes out to an estimated $240 billion in costs every year. Big parties with an abundance of leftovers are a major source of waste. The ecology can be greatly impacted by holiday activities.

Green steel, or JGreeX, dramatically lowers CO2 emissions during production. K Line claims that the Ultramax bulker will be the largest vessel built entirely of green steel in the world.

JFE Steel Corporation began offering a range of green steel products earlier this year under the JGree name. Compared to conventional goods, they are made using "highly advanced" steelmaking technologies that produce much fewer CO2 emissions. The corporation updated the K Line Environmental Vision 2050 in 2021 with the objective of reaching net-zero GHG emissions by that time, in place of the original target of halving emissions by that time.
