From acidification of water bodies, rising sea levels and climate change, to global water crisis, air pollution, and large-scale extinction of species, so many human activities have altered the ecosystem and affected its balance significantly. Some theorists have pointed toward rising population as the major cause for planet disaster, underscoring the situation where there are now too many humans for the limited space and available resources on planet earth. It will be in the fitness of things to examine this line of thought. The direct consequence of increasing population is that humans have to struggle for existing resources, especially natural, non-renewable resources. One of such needs is energy and global conversations around the need to transition to renewable, sustainable options tell the tale. Air travel, the increasing use of fossil fuels, which leads to increased CO2 emissions and energy per capita, have continued to have a devastating effect on air quality and depletion of ozone layer. There is a need to restore Indian traditional wisdom, a more sustainable way of living; sustainable architecture, rain water harvesting, composting, recycling waste segregation at source, switching to renewable energy, and planting more trees.
