With the introduction of the new Apple Watch lineup, Apple revealed its first-ever carbon-neutral products. The company has successfully cut product emissions by more than 75% per watch because to innovative design and advances in sustainable energy.
About 9% of Apple's carbon footprint is related to shipping goods internationally. Apple is moving a greater proportion of its product volume to delivery methods with lower carbon intensity, such ocean and rail transportation, to solve this. When compared to flying, sending a product by sea results in a 95% reduction in emissions, according to Apple's carbon footprint methodology.
Apple intends to ship at least 50% of the aggregate weight of the carbon-neutral Apple Watch models, including the watches and bands, via non-air routes, essentially lowering overall transportation emissions in half. All Apple Watch Series 9 and SE models' packaging has also been modified for compactness, allowing for a 25% increase in the number of devices that can be shipped per shipment.
