To reconnect with nature and live more sustainably, Ally Marie Brown constructed her own tiny house in the woods. On social media, the 25-year-old chronicles her adventure, describing how she transitioned from city living and a corporate career to remote working, hunting for food, and drinking sap. In one of her most recent YouTube videos, Brown showed off the finished house she spent 2.5 years building with Kyle Dempsey, her boyfriend.
A generator is used to power the house in the interim. They have a gas stove for cooking, and they go get water from the adjacent river. Brown has even gone down to the frozen lake to take a bath during the winter. She emphasized that the water is tougher to rely on in the heat in an Instagram post from last year. Brown operates a store on Etsy where she sells all-natural cosmetic products made with substances she collects herself.
