The remote getaway - just outside Kinbrace - is totally off grid and is forced to generate its own electricity and water. Run by archaeologists Eva and Adrian Aderyn, guests are promised uninterrupted views of the rolling Scottish wilderness. And they can gawp at the abundance of wildlife, including eagles, ospreys, otters and herds of red deer that roam outside the front door. Guests can also get an uninterrupted slice of history, with the nearest buildings to the hotel being ancient hut circles and an iron age hill fort.

The remote location also allows for a range of rural activities for punters to enjoy. The hotel offers trout and salmon fishing at nearby Garvault Burn, and a range of hills and munros on its doorstep and a short walk to a series of waterfalls. It also boasts the chance for bird watching, photography and ancient ruins. The owners promise guests an eco-friendly stay with their stay powered by solar panels and saltwater batteries.
