Fujitsu advanced its intentions to obtain 100% of the electricity utilized in its business operations from renewable energy by fiscal 2030, 20 years ahead of schedule from fiscal 2050, in order to meet its GHG emission reduction target. The updated roadmap for the Fujitsu Group to achieve carbon neutrality highlights its dedication to minimizing the environmental impact of its entire value chain and providing technologies that help customers solve business problems and a variety of societal issues, acting as a leader in sustainability transformation.
To attain carbon neutrality in its corporate operations, the Fujitsu Group has taken part in more rigorous measures. The SBTi validated that Fujitsu's GHG emissions reduction target of 1.5 °C (3) was aligned in April 2021. Fujitsu increased their GHG (Scope 1 & 2) emissions reduction goal for 2030 from a 33% decrease from fiscal 2013 to a 71.4% decrease at the same time. Fujitsu has accelerated its transition to carbon neutrality by setting fiscal 2030—20 years earlier than the prior target—as its new deadline for cutting carbon emissions to zero. Furthermore, by the fiscal year 2040, Fujitsu wants to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions throughout its whole value chain (scope 3), including the supplier chain. To achieve decarbonization in fiscal 2040 as opposed to fiscal 2020, Fujitsu achieved Net-Zero Target certification from SBTi in June 2023.
