Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for Calgary due to high levels of air pollution.

An advisory issued on December 13, 2023 states that high air pollution levels are predicted for the entire evening.

People may have headaches, shortness of breath, coughing more frequently, or discomfort in their throats. According to Environment Canada, older adults and children who have lung or cardiovascular conditions are particularly vulnerable.

It is recommended that anyone who are feeling symptoms cut back on or postpone physically demanding outdoor activities until the special air quality statement is lifted.
