CRAFSTO, a Japanese fashion brand offering products made with sustainable fabrics, announced the release of the new knapsacks made of apple leather and herb-dyed organic cotton for its 2022 Fall/Winter collection. Based on the brand's philosophy of producing goods in Japan that are made in consideration of the environment and people, the brand has created a bag that can be enjoyed effortlessly by all genders. Regarding the materials, the knapsacks use apple leather upcycled from apples headed to the dump. Apple leather is an innovative, environmentally friendly material created by upcycling apples that would otherwise be discarded. It is a USDA certified product*1 with 66% bio-based content (33% of which is apple), and the backing fabric is also made from apples. Only water-based polyurethane, which is less toxic during manufacture, is used as the binding agent. It does not contain the toxic substance dimethylformamide or VOCs (volatile organic compounds), which cause photochemical smog in the atmosphere.
