In order to reduce India's reliance on impod gas, which now meets 50% of the nation's 44MMTPA gas consumption, BPCL-R&D is developing a PNG burner that uses less energy. Notably, BPCL-R&D has succeeded in creating a PNG burner with a 70% efficiency, above the previously recorded 55% efficiency.
