On August 21, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AGI, Seth Twum Akwaboah, officially opened the training session in Accra. He reaffirmed AGI's commitment to forging solid partnerships with pertinent stakeholders in order to assist businesses in the nation's chemical sectors in reducing carbon emissions.
He argued that businesses must actively consider concerns relating to sustainable development. "We need to brace ourselves to understand the challenges and opportunities to be able to take advantage of and comply with sustainable development because it may have an effect on our businesses," he said.
He explained that in order to help its members adopt renewable energy sources and become more energy efficient, the association had set up an energy center called the AGI-Energy Service Center. According to him, there needs to be more done to promote the use of renewable energy because it is still not widely used in the nation. We encourage our members to use renewable energy and to be resource-efficient because, he said, "today we see renewables as expensive but in the long run it pays." The CEO praised GIZ for continuing to assist AGI in the field of sustainable development.
